Dr. Clement Hamani 

Dr. Clement Hamani did his medical training and PhD at the Federal University of São Paulo in Brazil. After his neurosurgery residency at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, he completed a fellowship in functional neurosurgery at the Toronto Western Hospital, University of Toronto in Canada. He is currently the Brain Sciences Program Research director and Senior Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute, preclinical director of the Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation at Sunnybrook, and Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada. The focus of Dr. Hamani’s research is the development of new ways of modulating the function of the nervous tissue, and discovering new applications for techniques that stimulate the brain and spinal cord to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders. His work ranges from basic research in preclinical models to clinical trials.
